NOSSI ART STUDENTS PAINT MURALS AT EVERGREEN’S DAY PROGRAM FOR

INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES

Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries recently moved into a new building which houses a day program for individuals with severe disabilities; they attend the program each day to learn new skills and engage in social activities. The building in which these individuals spend their days had white walls and sparse decorations until a group of students from Nossi College of Art called the Creatives Group decided to donate their time to make the rooms more inviting and lively. Thanks to their generosity there is now color and life on the walls, brightening the days of all those who attend the program.

The Creatives Group is a group of proactive students at Nossi College who believe in taking their artistic education to a higher level by reaching out to the local community and applying their artistic skills. The director of the group, Collen Curtis, explains that the students were excited to adopt two rooms at Evergreen’s day program. She further explained that the students enjoyed the experience so much that they offered to do a second mural project and decorate even more of the facility. The two teams involved with the murals were led by Tabitha Bennett and Troy Jarvis, and group members include Jazmin Alfaro, Kalen Waterman, Dani Maddox, Chanel Casa, Rick Martin and Shelby Nelson. The Creatives Group is fully committed to their mission, sharing their talents with children suffering from cancer to adults struggling everyday with severe disabilities.

Evergreen’s mission is helping people with disabilities build better lives. For 50 years, Evergreen has successfully fulfilled its mission. Evergreen is a nonprofit, premier provider of services to nearly 1,000 individuals in six states.

Evergreen provides services in Tennessee, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Kentucky, and is corporately based in Haughton, Louisiana. Evergreen has offices in Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville and Greeneville, TN.
